Head of Dept. of Herd Health and Epidemiology
Michael van Straten studied veterinary medicine at Utrecht University, the Netherlands, and graduated in 1994.
In 2010, he obtained a Ph.D. in epidemiology at the Faculty of Health Sciences, Ben-Gurion University, Israel.
Since 1995, he has been working at "Hachaklait" Mutual Society for Veterinary Services Israel, as bovine practitioner, consultant in the fields of bovine lameness, herd health and production management, and epidemiologist. He lectures at the Koret School of Veterinary Medicine, Hebrew University of Jerusalem.
Currently, he is Head of Dept. of Herd Health and Epidemiology at "Hachaklait". He is interested in developing and implementing herd health and production management programs, syndromic surveillance and outbreak investigations in dairy herds.
