Graduated from the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine (FMV), Technical University of Lisbon, Portugal, in 2000. Currently, he is a lecturer at FMV Lisbon on Production Animal Clinics, Reproduction and Obstetrics and Herd Health and Microbiology. He is also, the President of the Portuguese Buiatrics Association.

Dr. Bexiga worked as a practitioner with a focus on dairy cattle for several years, and now he is working on mastitis diagnosis at FMV Lisbon.

He was a resident of the European College of Bovine Health Management, in Glasgow, Scotland and since 2008, he is the College diplomate.

In 2011, he concluded his PhD at FMV Lisbon, on the subject “Bovine mastitis due to coagulase-negative staphylococci and the role of minor pathogens on mastitis” and has an Executive Masters in Management with a specialization in Marketing from ISCTE-IUL/INDEG Business School.

In addition to being a lecturer, Dr. Bexiga continues to work in private practice at Serbuvet, a practice with seven veterinarians who are mostly dealing with ruminants, where he focuses on herd health topics, farm development and expansion.

Dr. Bexiga has published 29 articles in international peer-reviewed scientific journals, one book and three books’ chapters.
